Populus-Terminal
Ogden, Utah
In September 2008, Kiewit entered into a joint venture with Black & Veatch and Henkels & McCoy.
The Populus to Terminal project consisted of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a new, 135-mile doublecircuit, 345 kilovolt transmission line from Populus Substation in southern Idaho to Ben Lomond Substation in Box Elder County, Utah, continuing on to Terminal Substation, which is located near the Salt Lake City Airport.
The Populus Substation is an EPC substation constructed on a fifty-acre greenfield site at the starting point of the new 345 kilovolt double-circuit line. The project also consisted of the expansion of the Ben Lomond and Terminal Substations, which Kiewit selfperformed. Kiewit Western performed the civil construction work to build access roads and installed foundations in the transmission line and substations.
